Alive and Kicking!

Rui_pousada
I'm still alive, you know? I realize that I'm a bit absent from this space for quite some time. So, I'll be posting more posts in a near future.

The reason for this absence is in fact due to other blogs where I'm more regular like in Paixão Automóvel and Blog de Marketing. Besides my usual work, I'm very busy updating these two blogs and a third one is coming up real soon. Why do I have these blogs right now?

It's a bit hard to answer that, since it's not about inmediate profit. No!
Although I think in having some sort of compensation in the medium term, I just like to write about these passions of mine.

This picture above it's me in a "Pousada" which is a luxury lodge in Algarve for the third project I was talking about before. I'm having a good time and I hope you're too.

Always in touch! Be good..

Merry Christmas to You!

(Merry) Christmas Labbit
Photo originally from Flavia

Just stopped by to wish you a Merry Christmas and a fantastic Holiday with all your family, friends and those who you care about.

This is a time of gathering, being thankful for what you have and be there for those who need you.

I'm going to close it now and heading for my home where my family is expecting me.

See you next week!

What it means to be a Trust Agent and the inherent responsibility

20

I'm going to be at TEDxEdges Event this October 1st since I'm really interested at the idea and the pannel gathered. Also, André Marquet, the curator of this TEDx show was very keen in showing up the advantages.

But was it the big reason for me to be at this event? Actually the main reason was because André has been referenced by Ricardo Sousa, the founder of SWITCH Conference, a previous event that my company also sponsored. I say also because we're also supporting TEDxEdges this year.
The fact is that Ricardo has credits with me by being a Trust Agent (referenced to Chris Brogan book - affiliate link by the way). I trust his judgement, because he's open, frank and keep up with is word every time we interact. So earned my respect by what we've done together but also because I follow what he writes, what he does online in social media, blogs and so on and maintained always the same type of character. This gives him credit and when he mention someone to me as an interesting person to talk to, I'll accept it.

It's an advantage that he has earned but also a huge responsibility to keep up. To maintain this status quo with me and other people that trust him, he needs to really think that what he's recommending has actual value to me or my business. Trust is something that it's difficult to reach, but very easy to lose.
Great job Ricardo and André. I'm looking forward to see you tomorrow.
Are you coming? If so, come and see me for us to talk.

Quality!

Attention to detail

So, here's the thing: Quality has won. This means a big responsibility!
This means that I need to provide excellent posting quality every single time.

Does that scares me? Sure it does!
Does that give me more stamina to accomplish that? Oh yeah!

So here's the thing. When I make such goals it's like a big guideline for me to follow every single day. This is a great guideline for everyone to follow through: quality!
When you aport quality to everything you do, speed and short deadlines explode in a million pieces and a sudden light come above the rubbles. Whow... this is too spiritual. I didn't mean that.

What I mean is that quality isn't something that we can do just from time to time. This is something that we need to treasure and make it grow every single day. Let it make part of yourself. Be a personal characteristic. Make it your character.
My family were very humble with few resources as I grew up, but something they accomplish very well. The family values. One of several of those values has being something that has followed me ever since: "If you're going to do something, do it right!" it doesn't matter if it is to dump the trash or drive the car to work, or even make a blog post. Make it right. Try to do the best you can do in everything you do. It can be very tiring and it can even be annoying for the ones around you. But in the end, it has become what you are. So, were talking about you... or me in this case.

The pursuit of perfection (even if we know that there is not such thing) and quality are two different things. But it can touch each other in some aspects.

I know that my blog can be improved, my blog posts definitely need improvement, but I'm working on it. Always trying to raise the boundaries. It's just me. Stay tuned ... I thank YOU, very much for the attention granted.

I just saw this at @imjustcreative and I loved it: Moon Invader watch

This is an amazing design and I'm starting to get into watches. My wife bought me a Tag Heuer Calibre S and I'm delighted with it. A few years back I was a consultant for a watches company and become more aware of this form of "art".

This is on my "want list".

Is digital overpass the real life?

Img_0850

Funny how this goes. A few years ago, let's say 2. I was the only one geek enough in my home to be almost every time at a laptop or on my iPhone, making the data flow.
Today, I'm at my couch with the laptop on my knees, but my wife is at the living room with hers and my daughter is at her room with a computer as well. Amazing! This keeps me thinking: Is real life becoming more and more digital?

Well... I don't like the idea. So I'm going to disconnect right away and try to recuperate them as well.

Let's Work!

Imgp1292

Do you see all this mess above? It's a photo of my 18th month year old baby girl having a blast on our living room. Just playing without care about the fuss and mess around her. She has 18 months old. She doesn't know what mess, confusion or cleaning up means.
And that's ok.

And seeing this photo I need to say, this is the time of her life. And mine!

Seeing this photo also reminds me to think on the real important stuff.
The news and feedbacks reminds us that there's a crisis breathing on our necks. That the unemployment rates are raising like a firecracker, ready to explode. It's expected a 21% unemployment rate in Spain until final 2010, just next to me. It's huge.
In Portugal (my home country) things are not so desperate, but still the perspectives are not good.

But seeing this picture above teaches me a lesson given by my baby girl. Focus on what's important. In her case is playing and being happy. In my case, is working on what I enjoy doing and being happy as well
My solution for 2010 and 2011 years is basic and simple. Let's Work! Let's work like never before. We need to work more and better than ever, for the same money. If we do this, we can live through this crisis and expect the deserved reward as soon as things get better.

Give

Familia_alentejo
I consider myself a successful man. I have the family I always dreamed of and I'm a respected professional at my line of work. I'm valuable to my company, my colleagues, my customers and my friends. And since I received so much, I need to give a lot more.
So, I propose myself to find someone that needs some help and just give. Share experience, knowledge and ideas. Share money, share efforts... Just share!
I just receive so much more back.

Coincidence or not, some people are reaching for me and ask my assistance, my help. And it's a big priviledge to have the opportunity to be helpful to someone.

Since two weeks from now, my family has given a lot of stuff. Used and new clothes, toys, tools, gadgets,  money of course and we realized that we collect too much stuff. We don't need so much. So we're providing whatever we don't need or use to people who need it. It's so easy and yet, people still are restraint to their things.

One wonderful idea that my wife thought was to use those points on brand fidelity cards to exchange it for some products that would be useful to someone in need. I didn't think on that before. We collect a lot of points by those cards every time we use it and we exchange it then for some stuff that we don't really need. Yet, it can be so important to other people.
So, my wife exchanged our Pharmacy points by some baby products and we are giving it to the Teenage Mothers Association, my stepdaughter  school aid project. Its so so simple and it can mean the world to those young teenagers with a kid on their arms.
My gas points card is loaded, so I'm exchaging those points for something useful and then give it to an non-profit association.

But I'm still not happy. I want to be engaged on something. So I'm participating at the "Clean Portugal Movement" in my local area and help to gather some trash at the woods. Do something for the community where I live that has giving me so much.
If you live in Portugal you can join us anytime and be very welcome.

Fortunatelly I can also help people with my expertise and know-how. So, that's how I join some amateur associations and help them with their communication and web necessities.

I'm a very busy man. Almost don't get time to be with my family, but still it's so important to make a big effort and be of value to someone that needs some kind of help. Share what I get so much.
So I plea: Share something, help someone just for today or tomorrow. You'll see that's addictive. ;-)

P.S: By the way, if you need some help, drop a line and ask. It will be a pleasure to be of use.
